On September 10, actor, musician, and college professor Jake Jensen performed “Sammy’s Song” on piano at the “Invasion of the Minions” Samantha’s Friends benefit fundraiser in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
This event benefitted such 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations as Donte’s Den Foundation, Bears Who Care, Valor Service Dogs, Play For Life Foundation, Code Red Foundation, and Boo 2 Bullying, among others.
This piano-driven song was an original composition that he wrote for the fundraiser’s namesake, Sammy Lee Bozza.
Jensen played the piano in a controlled, harking fashion, where he was able to paint a vivid picture in the minds of listeners.
It is evident that Jake Jensen is classically trained on the piano. His performance was stirring, resonant, and it helped capture a euphoric atmosphere. It evoked raw emotions and it felt like listening to musical poetry all through the keystrokes of the piano.
“Sammy’s Song” truly summed up the mission and theme of the nonprofit organization Samantha’s Friends, which was the raise awareness for the veterans with PTSD, disabled invididuals, and the canines.
It is the inspirational song that the audience didn’t know they needed. felt like listening to a quintessential Five for Fighting piano-laden ballad, and Jake Jensen was our John Ondrasik. Bravo.
