UFC: Cain Velasquez to take on Fabricio Werdum for title

Velasquez and Werdum fought a few months ago in Mexico City at UFC 188. The fight was scheduled for five rounds, but Werdum only needed three to defeat Velasquez.

Werdum will fight Velasquez for a second time, but as of now there is no date set. UFC President Dana White did say the fight is definitely going to happen. The second fight, just like the first time around, is going to be scheduled for five rounds.

White made the announcement on Wednesday, on the show UFC Tonight.

UFC 180 is when Werdum scored a win over Mark Hunt, and that match was for the interim version of the UFC heavyweight belt. The bout took place because Velasquez pulled out of the fight due to a knee injury.

When Velasquez stepped foot into the octagon at UFC 188, it had been more than a year since he had a fight in the UFC. Werdum used a guillotine choke to submit Velasquez, which allowed him to be unify the the belts.

Velasquez only lost two fights in his MMA career, with one of them being to Werdum and the other being against Junior Dos Santos. However, Velasquez made a comeback and defeated Dos Santos not once but twice. The first time was at UFC 155, and the second time was at UFC 166.
