The 38-year-old Filipino star was joined by his promoter Bob Arum in a week-long visit to Australia to promote the fight.
Pacquiao, who planed in before midnight Friday along with his wife Jinkee, said his promotional trip to the cities of Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney in Australia went well after meeting for the first time his challenger Jeff Horn.
“Horn should not be taken for granted,” said Pacquiao, who took notice of the height and overall physical advantage of the 29-year-old rising Australian boxer.
Pacquiao intends to give the Australian fans as well as the millions of boxing fans across the globe who will tune in on fight night an exciting fight and is calling on Horn to go toe-to-toe with him in the ring for the satisfaction of the fans.
I like this fight with Jeff Horn because he stands and fights, he does not run away in the ring. It will be a very exciting fight for the fans,” said Pacquiao, who was warmly welcomed by the Filipino community in Australia during his visit.
I hope he is training hard,” Pacquiao said. “I want him to be ready because I want to entertain the fans with a good fight,” he added.
Pacquiao is set to train in Manila for about six weeks before he moves back to Brisbane for another two weeks for the final phase of his training. Read more:
Pacquiao (59-6-2, 38 KOs), who is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jessie Vargas last Nov. 5 is the early favorite to win the fight on account of his experience and skill in the sport.
