Blu on the Hudson is a restaurant in Weehawken, New Jersey, which features new American Mediterranean food with Asian accents.

This journalist had the opportunity to dine for brunch at Blu on the Hudson on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Sushi rolls

The restaurant’s sushi rolls were soft and smooth. Their “Weehawken Roll” was a blend of spicy hamachi, Hokkaido scallops, and Ichimi potato crunch. This roll was spicy, sweet, and fresh, which was the quintessential combo.

The same holds true for “The Blu Roll,” which consisted of Bluefin Torso, spicy lobster, and avocado. Both rolls came with eight pieces of sushi.

Appetizers

As a brunch appetizer, “The Blu’s Way” is comprised of Halloumi cheese (a Cypriot cheese), as well as soft scrambled eggs, roasted tomatoes, pita bread slices, and tzatziki sauce.

Speaking of “The Blu’s Way,” it goes well with a side of Crispy Applewood Bacon, which was indeed crispy.

Gnocchi

Pasta lovers, ought to try their “Gnocchi,” which is hand rolled and topped with Ricotta cheese. Their spicy vodka sauce was fresh and it helped elevate this dish to a higher level. They won’t be disappointed.

Steak

Their “Steak Frites” is a must for anybody who likes red meat. It is made up of New York strip steak, hand-cut fries, and it is prepared or served with a generous amount of coarsely ground black pepper (Au poivre). A true highlight meal at this eatery.

Sides

Other noteworthy sides include their “Crispy Cauliflower,” which comes with spicy avocado aioli, breadcrumbs, and a lemon wedge.

Their “Truffle French Fries” are accompanied with truffle cream and topped with Pecorino Romano cheese are crunchy and slightly salty.

Desserts

Their “Stack of Pancakes” goes with with any choice of coffee (especially a strong Greek Frappé), and it can be served either as a dessert or a brunch classic item. Their blueberry pancakes were a savory treat, especially since they were warm, soft, and moist.

Their “Flourless Chocolate S’mores” were a real work of pastry art. They are gluten-free, and they come with a Graham cracker, chocolate mousse (with a caramel flavor) and marshmallow.

Overall, Blu on the Hudson has a pleasant ambiance, warm atmosphere, and a visually-striking view of the New York skyline, which is quite a sight.

The Verdict

In conclusion, Blu on the Hudson is an exquisite eatery in the heart of Weehawken, New Jersey. The wait staff and hosts are highly professional and attentive to the patrons’ needs.

Their meals have a modern twist to them, and they are refreshing. The presentation of each dish was elegant, artistic, and creative.

Fans of seafood, sushi, pasta, and steaks will find Blu on the Hudson to be a delight. At every visit, there is always something new to try due to its elaborate menu of offerings. It is highly recommended that one checks out Blu on the Hudson whenever they are in New Jersey.
