Actress Natalie Burn chatted about producing and starring in the new film “Til Death Do Us Part,” which was directed by Timothy Woodward Jr.
What was it like to star in and produce “Til Death Do Us Part”?
Juggling various roles is always a test. Sometimes I’m engrossed in shaping my character, while other times I’m a problem-solving producer.
Balancing these roles is a constant challenge, but with a structured approach and clear priorities, I select the most crucial focus for that moment. Narrating stories brings me joy; whichever role allows that is fulfilling. Acting feels like a unique experience, a belief that it’s uncharted territory.
Producing demands vigilant problem-solving, minimizing costs, and multitasking. The true challenge arises when producing and acting coincide. It’s vital to reconnect with the character amidst external or internal issues, preserving focus and performance undisturbed.
Fortunately, I was accompanied by an outstanding crew and cast, an exceptionally dependable team of individuals. This project was infused with a unique enthusiasm and fervor. We operated as a cohesive team, each member holding a robust creative vision that they brought to the table which made my work as a producer easier.
From the Emmy Award-winning Director of Photography, Pablo Díez, who crafted visual magic through his lens, to the imaginative Production Designer, Markos Keyto, and the synergy of music, theme, actors, all the rest of the crew members and the overarching narrative crafted by Chad Law and Shane Dax Taylor complemented by the remarkable creative input of Jeffrey Reddick – every element played a crucial role in this movie.
Particularly noteworthy is my producing partner, and the director of “Til Death Do Us Part” Timothy Woodward Jr., whose collaboration was pivotal. Our shared aspiration was to create this project, marking our inaugural experience working together on a feature film from inception to completion.
The sense of achievement has been substantial, and I’m convinced that our endeavors have yielded positive results. This, hopefully, marks just the beginning of our collaborative journey.
What was your favorite part of that experience?
Having the complete liberty to create was truly invigorating. Whether it involved discovering the ideal house during scouting, selecting the perfect attire and hairstyle for my appearance, or collaboratively choreographing fights against each groomsman.
Also, being as honest as possible with my emotions as we are chasing the sun while filming on the yacht with almost all the crew and the director having serious seasickness but still hoping to deliver the best performance possible, the opportunity to contribute to creative concepts is where true innovation thrives.
As an actor, I found myself akin to a performer on stage, immersing my character in a journey with an uncertain destination. I embraced the moment, placing trust in my scene partners, my craft, and the director’s guidance to guide me along his vision.
While the final outcome remained elusive at times, the anticipation of discovering it later always ignited excitement. This project was infused with a unique enthusiasm and fervor. I found enjoyment even in the mishaps and hurdles that surfaced.
Do you have any humorous incidents on set to share?
One humorous incident involved navigating an unexpected challenge when I inadvertently found myself drenched in fake blood during a renowned chainsaw scene.
Originally intended for the last day of filming, this moment was unexpectedly captured earlier and due to a unique circumstance involving Olvi’s, the Italian brand that supplied us with their special wedding dresses. I’m super grateful to them.
While we had requested four dresses for necessary alterations according to the script, we received only two due to shipping delays. As we were filming out of sequence, the shortage of dresses posed a predicament.
Despite hoping for the dresses to arrive until the last possible moment, they never did. With me standing in the church, adorned in fake blood, and about to shoot the movie’s opening scene, I swiftly transitioned into a producer’s mindset to resolve the issue promptly.
One of our production assistants was dispatched to acquire plain white paint and white graffiti spray. When the materials arrived, I embarked on the task of painting my entire dress with the paint.
To my surprise, the paint purchased was discounted glow-in-the-dark paint, leading to an unexpected turn of events. As I entered the dimly lit section of the church, the director’s reaction was nearly heart-stopping – my dress was radiating an otherworldly glow.
The PA’s budget-conscious choice had transformed my attire into something resembling a luminescent cast.
Naturally, we had to adapt our filming approach once again. By the time I wrapped up filming, the paint had adhered so firmly to my skin that it felt as though it was molded onto me. The ensuing struggle to remove it resulted in quite an amusing spectacle.
Having a full credible freedom to create as an actor and a producer while collaborating with extremely talented group of people is what made this one experience I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
What are your thoughts on AI on the future of the entertainment industry?
AI’s potential for assistance is undeniable, yet its misuse can inflict substantial harm. However, escaping its influence seems improbable given the rapid pace of technological advancement.
It seems reasonable for individuals to decide whether they wish to yield their roles to AI and be compensated accordingly. Our unique essence lies in the personal touch, with individual personalities enhancing characters, an element AI struggles to replicate.
Preserving authenticity and values is crucial. This requires mutual understanding and ongoing teamwork, rather than fully handing over our Film Industry to AI, which could have serious worldwide effects.
How does it feel to be an actress and producer in the digital age? (Now with streaming and technology being so prevalent)
It’s strange times we live in. Having a story to tell is easier through digital platforms, but opportunities are scarce. These days, we can create content on various platforms, while traditional studios look for established stars on social media to save costs.
In the past, few media companies dominated content creation, making it hard for new Hollywood talents.
Today, digital giants like Apple, Netflix, and YouTube shine brighter than cable networks. They create content and profit from it, providing chances for new talents to stand out.
However, traditional companies like CBS are cutting budgets and making fewer new shows. They can’t risk failures anymore. Interestingly, these traditional companies still offer good pay (for now). To become a megastar, being part of a network or major studio still matters.
This situation creates a paradox: It’s easier to start an acting career, but harder to become hugely famous. More actors have work, but standing out in a media-saturated world is tough.
The opportunities have increased, but reaching the highest level is harder. So to conclude I think if you care about working then just focus on creating your own content. With so many digital platforms, your voice can reach farther and you can share your stories more widely.
This makes it a crucial moment to be adaptable as an actor and content creator, whether producing films or TV shows, allowing you to shape your own future for an extended period. And perhaps, someday, the Studios and Networks will take notice of you and present even greater opportunities.
What are your plans for the future include?
Amid the current global circumstances, there’s a fitting saying: “Craft a plan, and the universe chuckles.” Observing the world’s events, I’m filled with gratitude for my present situation. I think I’m very lucky.
My aspiration is to persist in my acting career no matter what, advancing both professionally and personally. The prevailing SAG-AFTRA strike casts uncertainty on all of us, but my 100 percent unwavering support for the Union remains.
I hope we all get treated fairly in the end. In my dual roles as a producer and actor, my focus is on finding scripts based on real stories or events. My ambition is to honor legacies through film, embodying real individuals being a lifelong dream.
Simultaneously, I’m dedicated to refining my skills in action roles, with the aspiration of gaining recognition and invitations for significantly bigger film projects.
I really hope one day I’ll be given an opportunity like that. In essence, my aim is to maintain wellness, joy, happiness and a hunger for continuous growth as an actor and a positive human being.

Passion ignites purpose. Challenges shape us, resilience defines us. Dare to dream, will to achieve. Empower the mind, ignite the soul. Embrace change, empower growth. Lead with heart, inspire with action.
What does the word success mean to you?
My objective is to attain success daily across three distinct areas of my life. When I accomplish this trinity, I perceive it as a significant achievement, embodying a well-rounded and contented woman.
Success in my work is attained when i establish a goal and I follow through with it no matter all the obstacles, irrespective of the eventual outcome or achievement.
Success in family and relationship is nurturing strong bonds, fostering open communication, and providing unwavering support among loved ones. It revolves around creating a harmonious and affectionate atmosphere where each member feels valued, heard, and connected.
Success in health entails upholding my physical well-being through balanced living, nutritious choices, consistent exercise, and proactive healthcare. Mental and emotional wellness are equally vital. Ultimately, health success is very important and it means attaining a state of holistic vitality and overall well-being for myself.
