Review: Foreigner rocks the iHeartRadio Theater in New York City (Includes first-hand account)

This intimate and exclusive 60-minute live event featured a question and answer session with Foreigner that was hosted by Jim Kerr of Q 104.3’s Jim Kerr Rock and Roll Morning Show.

They opened their acoustic set with “Double Vision,” as green lights dimmed form the stage, and it was followed by “Say You Will,” which featured a neat flute solo, as the iHeartRadio audience was clapping along.

The iconic band shared that “Waiting for a Girl Like You” holds the record for most weeks at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, back in the 80’s, where Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical” kept it from reaching the top. They went on to deliver a killer rendition as purple lights graced the stage.

For “Dirty White Boy,” acclaimed guitarist Mick Jones switched over to his white acoustic guitar, and their rendition was upbeat and infectious, coupled with their soaring harmonies. They immediately broke into “When It Comes To Love,” with red lights shining from the iHeartRadio stage, as well as “Cold as Ice” with its impressive saxophone solo.

Following “Feels Like the First Time,” they performed the fan-favorite “Juke Box Hero” and they sang two additional songs including “Hot Blooded,” and their signature tune “I Want to Know What Love Is,” which was sheer perfection.

The Verdict

Overall, Foreigner was able to deliver at the iHeartRadio Theater in New York. They prove to get only better with age and experience. Their live show garnered 4.5 out of 5 stars.
