Allen revealed that he has three more weeks left for the “American Idol Live Tour,” where he is serving as their special musical guest. “It is going really well,” he admitted. “I am getting to know these kids. They are so talented and a lot of fun.”
He is pleased with the fact that the reality singing competition American Idol is back on the new network ABC. “It feels good,” he said. “I hope it does really well, and that it keeps on going.”
On his new single, the love song “When All The Stars Have Died,” he said, “It came out of nowhere. I was in my car, and I was quiet, and I just started singing, and the chorus came out immediately. Then, I took it to my friends, who helped me finish it. I really loved it.”
On his plans for the future, Allen said, “To keep making music and recording. I hope to put out more music by early of next year.”
In his personal life, Allen is married with two children, a five-year-old son Oliver Neil, and a two-year-old daughter Rose Elizabeth. “My daughter is two now, and she is great. She has got me wrapped around. That’s for sure,” he said.
Digital transformation of the music business
Regarding the impact of technology on the music business, Allen said, “I came into the music industry when technology was taking over with iTunes and Spotify. I have been riding the technology wave with it. Technology allows me to do a lot from my house, and it has made it very easy to consume music these days. There is a give and take with that. Nobody has to go to the music store to buy music these days. You can get it all the time, which is kind of a good thing, but also, sometimes, I wish that music stores still existed. Times are always changing and you need to change with them.”
Allen defined the word success as “having people in your life that love and respect you, and that you love and respect back.”
For his fans, Allen concluded about the “American Idol Live Tour,” “I appreciate a lot of them coming out. I think it’s fun and it’s different than my shows. It is a variety show, where people get a little bit of everything.”
