Actress, writer, and producer Arielle Raycene chatted about the Lionsgate film “Confidential Information” and “Bupkis.”

‘Confidential Informant’

Raycene portrays Ginger, a single mom and dancer opposite Nick Stahl in the movie “Confidential informant.” She stars alongside Mel Gibson, Kate Bosworth, and Dominic Purcell. “That was a lot of fun actually,” she said. “We shot it in Vancouver and it was wild. It reminded me of the ’70s. It was cool and a different vibe there.”

She was drawn to playing Ginger because she had to learn how to “pole dance,” and she described that as an “amazing workout.” “I’ve never experienced that through dance before. It made me really in tune with my body,” she said.

“Mel Gibson, Kate Bosworth, and Dominic Purcell are just pros,” she added.

‘Bupkis’

She also portrays Skipper, an adult film actress opposite Pete Davidson in the Peacock comedy series “Bupkis.” “That was fun,” she admitted. “It was a wild set. We got to improv a lot, which was fun.”

“I want people to have fun watching it,” she added.

Raycene recently made her film debut as the lead in “Kill Her Goats,” which is writer and director Steve Wolsh’s spoof of ’80s horror movies.

The digital age

On being an actress and artist in the digital age, Raycene said, “I wouldn’t know it any other way, technically. I grew up with it. Now, it is going into a new realm. The possibilities on this front are endless.”

She shared her thoughts on AI (artificial intelligence) on the future of the entertainment business. “I think we need to figure out something that is fair for the actors. I don’t understand why they don’t want to pay for use our likeness, I think that is ridiculous. Technology comes in faster and better all the time because it’s getting better at a faster pace,” she said.

Her other TV episodic credits include Severance (as the crazy ex-girlfriend turned stalker), The WiseGuys, Cry Wolfe, Murder Book, Deadly Sins, Ad Out, and XYZ: From Fire and Dust.Severance was fun, I did that a while ago. It was fun to play the crazy ex-girlfriend,” she said.

Dream acting partners

She listed Sydney Sweeney as her dream acting partners. “I would love to play Sydney’s sister,” she said. “Brad Pitt would be a great person to work with. I would also love to work with Jennifer Coolidge from ‘The White Lotus’.”

Success

On her definition of the word success, she said, “Doing what you love, and making a living out of it.”
