The Biebs posted the playful encounter with bodyguard Mikey Arana on Instagram and, in support of gay people, included this caption: I’m not gay but even if I was that’s not an insult.
That’s a great response to those who try to insult others by calling them gay. It’s not the first time the singer has been called gay, lots of wanna-be tough guy homophobes have been calling him gay since the 21-year-old hit the world stage way back in 2009. Unlike Arana, these guys weren’t joking and were trying to insult Bieber.
So here’s this: if Bieber the Bad can get criticized for speeding, for being late to a concert, for urinating in a mop bucket — that was an odd one, no? — then it seems only fair to detail positive deeds from Bieber the Good, and he’s pretty darn good a lot of the time. So his latest push-back against homophobia is now included on the list.
Some of his good deeds include sizable donations to two pet charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Pencils for Promise, a charity that builds schools and provides educational tools around the world. There are numerous other organizations he contributes to, including food banks and mycharitywater, an organization that helps provide clean water to developing countries.
Further, proceeds from his fragrance ‘Someday’ go to charity and Bieber has auctioned off locks of hair, running shoes and Johnson, his boa constrictor, for good causes. He’s contributed time and money to anti-bullying campaigns and to a campaign to educate young people about the dangers of texting while driving.
Had this latest Justin Drew Bieber news been of the negative variety – and a number of websites, predictably, tried to spin it that way — then it would doubtless have gotten more attention. But negative or positive he’s still a news maker, as at last count 78 entertainment and news sites had written about the Instagram video and his accompanying comment.
