Sandra Bullock’s stalker charged with 19 felonies

Joshua James Corbett was in Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday for his preliminary hearing and to face charges. The judge heard the details of the alleged stalker incident. The accused was charged with 19 felonies and bail was set at $2.2 million.

In June of 2014, Bullock stepped out of the shower and was on her way to bed at her Bel-Air home. Moments later, she found herself eye-to-eye with an intruder. The Oscar-winning actor raced to her closet and locked herself in.

During the chilling 911 call, Bullock was heard to be terrified and brought to tears. Fortunately, her closet had a safe door that would keep the man from getting to her. Here is some of Bullock’s desperate call last summer, “Someone just broke into my house… I think it’s a man… I’m in my closet. I have a safe door… I’m locked in the closet right now… He’s banging on the doors.”

Deputy District Attorney Wendy Segall stated in court that 39-year-old James Corbett had entered the home three consecutive nights and that “It’s clear that he was stalking her repeatedly and maliciously.”

Corbett had illegal assault weapons and machine guns at his home, but he was not armed at the time of his arrest. When he was apprehended, he yelled out, “I’m sorry. I love you Sandy.” He also had a number of love letters with explicit expressions and perverse requests.

Corbett was charged with seven counts of possession of a machine gun, two counts of possession of an assault rifle, and 10 counts of possession of a destructive device. He was also charged with stalking and faces up to 12 years in prison. The defendant pleaded not guilty and he will be arraigned on April 23, 2015.
