Pakistani company accused of selling fake degrees

Shaikh was arrested in Karachi three days ago. A local television showed photos of a room that was filled with fake diplomas, and the fake diplomas were stamped with a letterhead from fake Axact-owned universities. Some of the names included Bay View, Oxdell and Cambell State. Other Axact institutions adopted other names such as Barkley and Columbiana.

Shaikh admitted that his company provided more than 100 ‘doctorate’ degrees to people located throughout the Middle East, England and the United States.

Officials said that people who obtained the degrees are working in important positions worldwide. Officials also said that more than 80,000 fake degrees were found at Axact’s offices.

The scandal came to light after the New York Times published a report, which said that Axact made millions of dollars selling the fake degrees on the internet.

During the raid at Axact, the FIA not only found the fake degrees, but they also found student ID cards, as well other types of materials used in printing.
