IBM Named One Of The Industry’s ”Hottest Hosts”

SOMERS, NY — Web Host Industry Review has chosen IBM as one of the industry’s “Hottest Hosts” in its January on-line publication. A panel of Web hosting experts ranked Web hosting companies based upon feedback from users and other factors, including customer care, quality of service and fees.

IBM e-business Hosting was named one of the “Hottest Hosts” in the Dedicated Hosting providers’ category. The category, awarded monthly, goes to providers who “enforce their service guarantees with high-quality levels of customer care.” Web Host Industry Review said customer care is key because “many new consumers of Web hosting services require sound technical support due to their inexperience.”

According to Web Host Industry Review, the best Dedicated Hosting providers “allow web developers and e-businesses to concentrate on their core business, while the Web host focuses on ensuring maximum uptime and fast connectivity for your customized Web server.”

In other comments about IBM, Web Host Industry Review said:

  • Overview: “Don’t be fooled by IBM’s long history as an innovator in computer hardware; it offers high-quality Web hosting services of all types, too. Choosing IBM to host your Web site means you’re choosing an established company with years of technical experience.”

  • Hardware/Software: “Perhaps you have seen IBM’s line of ads promoting its new e-servers. Naturally, just about all the servers in IBM’s repertoire of hardware have been developed and built by the company itself. Exact configuration in terms of hardware specifics and accompanying software is determined on a case-per-case basis in consultation with an IBM representative, making IBM a truly high-end solution.”

  • Connectivity: “IBM’s global presence really shines through when it comes to its network. IBM maintains hosting facilities on four different continents, with construction for additional facilities already underway. All servers are piped in to multiple tier 1 connections to ensure maximum redundancy and efficiency.”

  • Technical Support: “is available online and via telephone and e-mail 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

IBM operates 175 data centers worldwide and has 25 e-business Hosting Centers open around the world. In 2000, the company announced plans to build more than 50 new IBM e-business Hosting Centers in the U.S., Latin America, and Europe.
