Review: Sandi Morris vaults to 3rd place at 2018 IAAF Continental Cup (Includes first-hand account)

American pole vaulter Sandi Morris came in third place with a jump of 4.85 meters. Greek pole vaulter and 2018 European champion Katerina Stefanidi also cleared 4.85 meters, but finished in second place, and Russan athlete Anzhelika Sidorova won first place with 4.85 meters. The countback rule worked in Sidorova’s favor.

All three women established a new championship record with their clearance of 4.85 meters in Ostrava.

On August 30, Morris came in second place at the IAAF Diamond League final in Zurich, and her boyfriend popped the question to her, where she ultimately got engaged. This summer outdoor season, Morris was the world leader in the women’s pole vault with 4.95 meters. She had accomplished that milestone at the second annual Liberty Bridge Jump-Off event, which was held in front of her hometown crowd in Greenville.
