NFL Rumors: Reggie Wayne to Kansas City Chiefs?

Kansas City is one such franchise as the team is among the worst in the league with depth at wide receiver. The Chiefs have struggled in the passing game over the past couple of seasons, but help could be on the way with a potential Hall of Fame wide outs linked with the team.

Several reports have surfaced in recent weeks concerning Reggie Wayne and where he might play this season. The latest from Sports Illustrated has suggested K.C. is among those interested and that makes sense for both parties.

The 36-year-old would like to play for a contender in what could be his last year in the league. With limited options, the Chiefs have both the need for help and the talent to make a run at the playoffs in 2015.

With over 1,000 career receptions for 14,000+ yards and 82 touchdowns, the former first-round pick from the 2001 NFL Draft could be just the player this franchise needs to take that next step and surpass Denver as the top team in the AFC West.

Wayne managed 64 catches for nearly 800 yards last year with Indianapolis, despite his role with the Colts being greatly reduced. Those numbers would be a welcome in Kansas City as the Chiefs had just two players with more than 40 receptions and no wide receivers with touchdown grabs.

There are a number of other teams with interest, including New England, but with a Tom Brady suspension likely, it would be tough playing with a young quarterback for the first few games and a slow start would definitely hurt the Patriots chances of making the playoffs and that could be the difference in where the veteran signs to play football for the upcoming year.
