2017 NFL Mock Draft: Updated first round projections

While teams like Cleveland and San Francisco have a ways to go as championship contenders, several franchises are within reach of a Lombardi Trophy, but only if they fill needs over the summer and add the right mix of young talent.

Dallas has found their quarterback of the future in Dak Prescott and have the offense to win a title, but the Cowboys need more talent and depth on defense. The latest mocks have pass rush specialist Charles Harris of Missouri and all-around defensive star Jabrill Peppers of Michigan as the two players that could help this team reach its goal of another Super Bowl title.

Atlanta is in the same boat as the young Falcons defense was just worn out in the fourth quarter against New England. Another year of experience will help, but adding more depth is a priority this off season.

Walter Football has Michigan State youngster Malik McDowell as the top option and for good reason. At 6’6″ and nearly 300 pounds, McDowell has the size to anchor the middle of the defensive line and his addition will help with a rotation that needs more play-makers to help with the pass rush late in games.

Draft Site has the strong getting stronger with the Pats’ taking Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey in the first round. Not only would the talented youngster add another weapon to Tom Brady’s arsenal, it would also allow the team to use him in multiple roles and add depth at other areas of need in 2017.

Its never easy to predict what will happen each year in the NFL, but one thing is clear, teams must improve in a big way to compete with the champs and it all starts with a strong off season and taking the right young men to help win that championship.
