Cork, Ireland, Native Katie B. McGrath Releases Medical Nightmare Memoir

A true tale of fear, love, and survival, all with characteristic Irish wit

Aug. 3, 2021 / PRZen / CORK, Ireland — Cork, Ireland, native Katie B. McGrath relives personal tragedy and inspires hope with her medical nightmare memoir, Heads or Tales: Surviving a Brain Tumour. What started as a way to remember the before, during, and after of a brain tumor diagnosis turned into an opportunity to share the true tale of living in spite of fear.

“In the beginning, I quickly became aware that my short-term memory was failing me as a result of surgeries and radiation. Donal [her husband] suggested I keep a journal to make sure I accurately captured every moment,” Katie says. “The process was cathartic, even though I had to relive those difficult days of hallucinations, intense pain, and the sickness from radiation. But it’s worth it if anything I learned on my way to ‘remission’ helps someone else.”

Readers will be haunted by stark descriptions of the horror McGrath faced and then elevated by stories of her husband’s steadfast love and Katie’s humourous anecdotes of learning to live again with the aftermath of her tumour. Unafraid to laugh at herself or speak her mind, McGrath finishes this chapter of her story with the coping mechanisms that get her through each day.

The first non-fiction offering by Katie B. McGrath is now internationally available for purchase in print and for mobile devices on Amazon and through local booksellers. McGrath published her medical memoir on March 31, 2021, with assistance from American firm Little Red Writing. According to relaxing COVID-19 policies, McGrath is now available for in-person readings and interviews.

About the Author: Katie began her career in the administration field and enjoyed fourteen years working in various reputable companies. Katie has a passion for travel and immersing herself in different cultures. She has lived and worked in America, Australia and Scotland. She now resides in her home city of Cork, Ireland, with her handsome, humourous husband, Donal, who lifts her up when she’s feeling down.
