Award-Winning Producer Mikaela Phillips Attends Hollywood Premiere for Malibu Crush Ahead of New TV Show

Debuting earlier this week at the world-renowned TCL Chinese Theatre, award-winning comedy film Malibu Crush had its official Hollywood premiere and screening on September 15th. Situated right in the heart of Hollywood, the TCL Chinese Theatre has been home to some of the biggest movie premieres in the past, including the 1977 launch of George Lucas’s Star Wars and home to three Academy Awards ceremonies.

Producer Mikaela Phillips attended the screening of the film alongside Director James Pratt, celebrating the movie’s official release and successful festival run throughout 2022, winning 25 major film festival awards, including the prestigious Los Angeles Film Awards and Cannes Film Awards.

Phillips who is a well-established and noted name in the industry was a Producer on Malibu Crush, “It was a pleasure to work on this and so rewarding and thrilling to see it debut at the TCL Chinese Theatre. Not only has this movie been well received by audiences who are embracing and loving the quirky humor and storyline, but it’s also so lovely and re-affirming to see it recognized amongst our industry peers with numerous festival wins and high praise.”

Hollywood Producer Justine L. Levine (Life Happens, Holiday Heist, Maladies) praised the film in his recent comment, stating “My favorite comedy of 2022. Funny, witty and well-made. I’m not at all surprised by the success it’s had in US film festivals”.

Malibu Crush marks the third movie Mikaela has worked on since 2020, following the success of her debut produced feature filmMadison and the Happiness Jar which gained international acclaim, launching on Amazon Prime to multiple five-star reviews and award nominations. For her production, Mikaela was awarded the inaugural Best Young Filmmaker Award and in the same year, named one of 2021’s 30 Producers Under 30 To Watch.

Currently, she’s gearing up for her next production which starts shooting in the Fall in Los Angeles, a Drama-Thriller TV Pilot/Series. Phillips returns to TV after two years of producing films and will oversee all aspects of production as a Producer alongside the series creator, “We have a really great ensemble cast on this one and I’m looking forward to bringing this mysterious, emotive and diverting script to life” Phillips said.
