Steve Grand amazes at Lambda Legal’s Young Leadership Council (Includes first-hand account)

It took place at AppNexus HQ in 19 West 22nd Street in New York. Grand took the stage solo, and accompanied himself on keyboards.

“I never know what to expect when I come to these types of events,” he said. “I am honored to be before you tonight, on the eve of such an important milestone in our community,” referring to the recent Supreme Court case from Tuesday.

He opened his set with his empowering piano-driven ballad “We Are the Night, where he was able to hit the high notes effortlessly, while showcasing his wide vocal range.

Grand shared that his musical journey hasn’t been too long. He released his breakthrough music video “All-American Boy” in 2013, which subsequently went viral, and he noted that it was more rebellious then, than if he released it today, prior to praising the movement to equality.

He continued with a sultry and bluesy piano-driven rendition of “All-American Boy,” which resonated well with the audience, and proved that he can make musical magic thanks to his rich and crisp vocals and keyboards.

“Thank you guys so much,” he said, encouraging his fans to sing-along if they knew the words to the follow-up tune, the melodically-stunning “Stay.” He reiterated that he is honored to be at this special event. “Follow what your voice is telling you,” he told his New York City crowd.

“Steve Grand was amazing tonight,” praised Susan, a fan and attendee.

The Verdict

Overall, Steve Grand’s mini-concert for “Rally for Equality: Love Rules” in Manhattan garnered 5 out of 5 stars. He sang with a great deal of heart and soul, and was able to make a strong connection with his audience. He deserves to become the next great star in music.
