Rhonda Vincent named 2016 ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’

The award ceremony, which honors bluegrass musicians, was held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee. The acronym SPBGMA stands for the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America.

In this year’s category, Vincent was nominated alongside such female bluegrass artists as Teresa Sells, Sonya Isaacs, Michelle Nixon, Lorraine Jordan and Jeanette Williams.

This past November, Vincent released her holiday album, Christmas Time, which garnered a glowing review from Digital Journal. It included collaborations with Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels and Dolly Parton.

A month prior to that, Vincent was honored as the 2015 “Female Vocalist of the Year” by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), which is the genre’s highest honor.
