Review: Pentatonix phenomenal on new ‘Evolution of Michael Jackson’ video (Includes first-hand account)

Their medley of Michael Jackson hits that they cover includes “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” “I’ll Be There,” “Ben,” “Dancing Machine,” “Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground),” “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough,” “Rock With You,” “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” “Wanna Be Startin’ Something,” the soothing “Human Nature,” his signature song “Thriller,” “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” the upbeat “P.Y.T.” and they showcase some attitude on “Bad.”

They continue with the sultry “The Way You Make Me Feel,” while “Man In the Mirror” and “Dirty Diana” are both infectious. It is followed by “Smooth Criminal” and “Black or White,” the latter of which is the quintessential sing-along. It closes with such memorable Michael Jackson numbers as “Remember the Time,” “Heal The World,” “Will You Be There” and the lilting “You Are Not Alone.”

The Verdict

Overall, Pentatonix has given Michael Jackson an amazing tribute with their latest music video. Kirstin Maldonado’s crystalline vocals are a breath of fresh air, and her fellow male band-mates are equally exceptional, especially with their rich falsettos and beat-boxing. This new Pentatonix video garners an A rating.
