Emmy award-winning actor Maurice Benard spotlighted his onscreen son Chad Duell once again on his MB “State of Mind” podcast on mental health.

Benard plays patriarch Sonny Corinthos on the hit ABC daytime drama “General Hospital.”

Chad Duell plays Michael Corinthos for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” back in 2015.

They both talk about the importance of respect in the industry, especially the lack of respect these days from young actors. “I was taught to respect everybody: cops, doctors, and every authority figure,” Benard said.

Their entire informed conversation (where Chad Duell opens up a great deal) may be seen below.

Duell reflects on some chaotic times in his life, which inevitably have made him stronger. These include his parent’s divorce (when he was young), and the latest challenges in his personal life and heart health.

Benard praised Duell’s character for lately turning into Daniel Day-Lewis “within a day.” “What we just did, felt like I was in a fight… and that doesn’t happen very often on the show,” Benard. “To see Chad do it twice was amazing.”
