Singer-songwriter David Archuleta (and “American Idol” runner up) released his new single, the emotional “Up.”

Earlier this year, he was hiding out as the Macaw on the hit reality show “The Masked Singer.”

In an effort to celebrate his newfound confidence, and to perform unmasked again, he released “Up,” which has a stirring vibe to it and really tugs at the heartstrings. It may start off melancholic but it is filled with positivity and hope.

He co-wrote the song with Jeremy Thurber and Taylor Sparks, the latter of which also served as its producer.

Archuleta is not afraid to be raw and vulnerable on this tune, and that will resonate with his listening audience.

The single’s new lyric video may be seen below.

Archuleta noted that “Up” is about hitting what we feel is rock bottom in our lives and like there’s nowhere to go.

“You feel hopeless,” he said. “The only thing to do from the bottom is get yourself off the ground and move up. It’s a song about finding the strength you didn’t know you had in you. And replacing any fear and hate with love. Especially self love,” he elaborated.

“Up” by David Archuleta is available on digital service providers by clicking here. It garners two thumbs up.
