Review: Lisa Polizzi remarkable at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall (Includes first-hand account)

She kicked off her set with Alanis Morissette’s ballad “Ironic,” where the stage was graced in fuchsia lights. Polizzi had solid control over her voice, and this song displayed her own unique musical style.

Polizzi went on to dedicate “Zombie” by The Cranberries to this journalist, which was an added treat, and she gave a shout-out to this outlet. “Zombie” was remarkable and she picked up the pace with Grace Potter’s “Paris,” featuring its “Ooh La La” hooks. She subsequently showed her piercing pieces in Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody to Love,” and after a sip of Seltzer water, she threw some country in the mix with Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman,” which ended in a neat jam.

She channeled her inner Annie Lennox on The Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams,” where she showcased her harking voice, as well as her dance moves. The Long Island singing sensation tipped her hat to Pink with “Who Knew,” and immediately broke into No Doubt’s “Just a Girl.” She brought it back to old school with “Proud Mary,” and her bluesy voice was evident on Lady Gaga’s “You and I.”

After the dance anthem “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes, she closed with Radiohead’s “Creep” and with the rock classic “Whole Lotta Love,” thus paying homage to Led Zeppelin.

The Verdict

Overall, Lisa Polizzi was superb at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall, and the same was true for her band. Throughout her musical career, she has won many awards and accolades, and her show tonight was proof that they were all based on talent and merit. Well done Lisa!
