World-renowned DJ and producer Like Mike chatted about his new progressive house song “Awaking,” where he collaborates with Asher Swissa.
He is one half of the acclaimed electronic duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and they ranked No. 3 in the 2022 DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll.
Like Mike is an iconic name within the dance genre, with the Belgian-Greek brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike known worldwide for their signature big room house style, their tracks that have surpassed hundreds of millions of streams and they have performed all over the world.
Like Mike shows off his musically diverse production capabilities with his solo releases, this time joining forces with melodic techno producer Asher Swissa to produce their new tune “Awaking.”
On his new track, Like Mike said, “We wanted to create a big sound that would transcend genres. ‘Awaking’ had all the right elements to be our next summer smash.”
He praised the musical talent of Asher Swissa. “Asher is an incredibly talented producer and the whole process was great,” Like Mike said. “We worked really well together and collaborated with each other’s strengths to create something truly unique with ‘Awaking’.”
When asked what inspires his solo music and songwriting, Like Mike responded, “My life inspires me. The travel, people, places, and experiences I have are all part of the creative process.”
Regarding his plans for the future, he shared, “I don’t think we can ever know what the future holds, but my plans are to continue expanding my solo career while simultaneously expanding in other realms of business.”
Like Mike listed French DJ and producer Kavinsky as his dream collaboration choice in music. “Kavinsky sounds like a very interesting name to work with,” he said.
On his favorite mottos to live by, he remarked, “Don’t take anything too personally. Life is short, so do what you love and appreciate every moment.”
Like Mike concluded about “Awaking,” “This track is uplifting and thought-provoking. I want people to interpret music any way it feels to them.”
