Dimitri Vegas of the acclaimed electronic duo Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about Dino Warriors, his latest projects, his Greek background, and his career-defining moments.
Dino Warriors
He opened up about Alien Samurai Dino Warriors comic book and NFT project together with the creators of the Batman Movie Franchise hosted by the ENVOY Network. This project is aimed at long forgotten and genuine fans of the niche cartoon series and it gives them the opportunity to own a piece of their past.
“I’ve been working on Dino Warriors for a couple of years, and it has been an amazing experiment while infusing it with the whole NFT technology. I am learning every day, and it’s great to see a community grow so fast around something, and that’s amazing,” he said.
“For me, it is essential to have a creative platform that focuses on the utility of Dino Warriors and NFTs, and that was the most important part,” he acknowledged. “The NFT is a utility and a key to a community around the “Dino Verse” we are building.”
“What makes it so interesting is that they are able to infuse a traditional property with NFTs and to be able to create a very close community from day one. It felt like a great opportunity,” he added.

Future plans
Regarding his plans for the future and acting, he said, “I actually just finished filming the first block of my first lead role. I will be shooting more in November. Also, I shot a small role for ‘Jurassic World: Dominion,’ which is coming out next summer.”
“I have a bunch of auditions lined up and a couple of projects in the pipeline. I hope to be able to announce more of them soon,” he said.
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Vegas said, “The Soft Reboot.” “It has been weird not touring for almost two years, and being home a lot,” he said. “I never thought I would be able to appreciate being in one place for such a long time, especially Belgium. I have been focusing a lot more on acting and producing content, plus I have a baby now… so going back on tour is definitely an interesting return to the ‘old ways’ with a fresh mindset.”
“Musically, I am looking on what is the sound that we are going to lean into a little bit more. I am looking at what is going to be the next banger,” he added.
“I am in Ibiza now, working on new music and new scripts,” he said. “I am working on Dino Warriors and on the graphic novel of Dino Warriors. I love what I do so much that I consider everything in that same space. My hobby right now is giving my baby milk.”
Career-defining moments
Regarding his career-defining moments, he said, “I see everything as a constant evolution. We didn’t make it overnight, it has been a long process. I have been doing music for a very long time. It has been defining for us to gradually grow in our career, and always be hungry for more.”
DJ Magazine recognition
Last year, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike ranked No. 2 on the coveted DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll. “That felt great. We have been in that Top 2 for as long as I can remember, it’s great that every year we can rely on the support of our fans, and hopefully, this year still so I am looking forward to the results,” he said.
Dream collaboration choices
On his dream collaboration choices, Vegas responded, “There are so many great artists out there. For me, it all depends on the song, and that has been the same with every featured artist we work with. We always approach it from a creative side. I still hope I get to work with a lot of them.”
Greek ethnic background
He was born Dimitri Thivaios, Vegas spoke about his Greek heritage, which stems from his father’s side (his mother is Belgian). Their dad is from Loutraki, which is located next to Corinth, and they would spend a lot of time there with their family when he was growing up.
“My heritage is from Greece and coincidentally, I went back to the hometown after a number of years, and I fell in love with Loutraki all over again,” he said.
His grandparents are from Perachora, which is an inland settlement in the Loutraki-Perachora-Agioi Theodoroi municipality, but for Vegas, Loutraki would always be his “Greek hometown.”
Success
He defined the word success as “being happy with what you do, and also people liking what you do.” “It’s a combination of both,” he said.
For his fans, he concluded about Alien Samurai Dino Warriors, “I hope I can create something in the next couple of years that my kid will hopefully be able to enjoy as much as I did with all of those things, and I hope it becomes a piece of pop culture history, and hopefully, it will inspire a new generation of kids to make their own projects someday. There is definitely a need for new creations and I hope to be a part of that.”
