Jane McManus opens up about new espnW radio show ‘The Trifecta’ (Includes interview)

McManus has covered New York sports since 1998 and she began covering football just before Brett Favre’s stint with The Jets. Her work has appeared in such media outlets as Newsday, USA Today, The Journal News and The New York Times. She writes columns and feature pieces for espnW, and she has broken national news stories, and has appeared on ESPN and various radio affiliates to talk sports.

“It feels really great, and a little surreal,” McManus said, about their new radio show. “Kate and Sarah are two of my closest friends, so it seems like it’s a good place to be. If we are going to do a radio show, there are no two people I would rather do it with. They are very funny and they are very smart, so the combination is good.”

Each day, McManus is motivated simply by the adrenaline of chasing a news story. “I have a reporting background, so I really want to find something out, and get some information that other people don’t have or find out what’s happening in sports. I write a column every week, so I am always looking for that one item that makes me completely mad, so that I can write about it in my column, so that is what motivates me,” she said. “I also teach journalism so I am motivated from that point of view as well.”

McManus listed Serena Williams as her dream sports interview choice. “I would love to do a one-on-one sit down interview with Serena. I think she would be excellent,” she said.
