Actor and musician Braeden De La Garza chatted about “Cruel Summer” on Freeform, “The Quest” on Disney+, and being a part of the digital age.

‘Cruel Summer’

The second season of “Cruel Summer” premieres on June 5 on Freeform, and it is available to stream on Hulu on June 6.

“It has been incredible,” he said about “Cruel Summer.” “It has definitely been my favorite project to work on thus far, and I can’t wait for people to see it.”

Portraying Brent

He plays the role of Brent. “Some people may say he’s inconsiderate, but I try to see the hood in him, and I chalk that up to him being carefree. Brent doesn’t get rattled or upset by much and lives life on a pretty chill playing field. I think that’s admirable when it’s not getting him into trouble,” he said about his character.

‘The Quest’ on Disney+

He recalled playing Prince Emmett in “The Quest” on Disney+. “‘The Quest’ was great,” he exclaimed. “I’ll always be appreciative of the people I worked with on ‘The Quest’ because it was my first experience on a professional set in a leading role. It was an incredible way to break into the industry in a big way.”

He had great words about working with actor Elliott Ross, who played fellow Prince Cederic in “The Quest.” “I love Elliott. He really became like a pseudo-mentor to me during our time on ‘The Quest.’ The man gives great advice,” he said.

The digital age

On being an actor in the digital age, now with streaming and technology being so prevalent, he said, “It feels exciting. With more technology comes more opportunity. Streamers have really opened a whole new world of possibilities for actors, and I’m glad to benefit from it.”

Future plans

On his future plans, he shared, “Keep working and try to enjoy myself. I do have the best job in the world after all.”

Superpower of choice

If he were to have any superpower, he revealed that it would be “flight. “It would help out so much in LA traffic,” he said.

Closing thoughts on ‘Cruel Summer’

He concluded about “Cruel Summer,” “It’s going to have everyone on the edge of their seat. It truly has more twists and turns than anything I’ve ever seen or been a part of. Your adrenaline will be pumping while you watch, no doubt.”
