It opens with his infectious radio single, the chart-topper “Backroad Song.” It is followed by the equally fun and catchy “Tonight,” which deserves to be released to radio at some point in the future.
The title track “Remington” is a neat ballad that displays his vocals. He changes the pace with the upbeat, spitfire tune “If the Boot Fits.” Equally noteworthy is “Blue Collar Dollars” and the gorgeous duet “Crazy As Me” with rising country songstress Brooke Eden.
“Likin’ Love Songs” is one of the most commercial songs on the record, while “Tractor” is another charming country ballad that is sonically and lyrically beautiful. “Echo” is a great deal of fun, and his vocals on “Around the Sun” are reminiscent of country star Brad Paisley. In “5 More Minutes,” he really tugs at the heartstrings, and one should get the Kleenex ready.
“Tailgate Town” is the highlight song on the album due to its heartfelt and moving lyrics that his listeners can relate to. It is very nostalgic and a gentle recording.
He shows his outlaw side on “Country Boy Love,” as well as “City Boy Stuck” and “Merica,” both of which are collaborations with his alter-ego Earl Dibbles Jr.
The Verdict
Overall, Remington is a solid album by country star Granger Smith. Whoever enjoyed his debut single “Backroad Song” will enjoy the rest of this CD. The ballads are absolutely terrific. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
