Sam Kendricks wins first place at pole vault indoor championship

The USA Track & Field Indoor Championships were held at the Albuquerque Convention Center in New Mexico.

Kendricks won the men’s pole vault with a clearance of 5.85 meters, which is equivalent to 19-2 ¼ feet, and following that successful vault, he decided not to raise the bar any higher. Logan Cunningham came in second with a vault over 5.65 meters, and Chris Pillow came in third place with 5.65 meters.

Last year, as Digital Journal reported, Sam Kendricks was nominated for the prestigious “Male Athlete of the Year.”

Kendricks chatted with Digital Journal about his career as a pole vaulter, and his experiences at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
