A Mississippi native, Kendricks took home the bronze medal in pole vault at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where he jumped over 5.85 meters.
At the U.S. Olympic Trials that were held in July, he set an Olympic Trials record with a jump over 5.91 meters. At the 2016 World Indoor Championships, Kendricks took home the silver medal.
He is a two-time Diamond League meeting winner, where he became the first American male pole vaulter to win a Diamond League meeting in history.
Aside from his career in pole vault, Kendricks is a second lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve.
