Pacquiao likely to face Khan or Crawford after Jeff Horn fight

If Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum sticks to his earlier pronouncement that Pacquiao would be fighting outside the US for his succeeding bouts, there is a great possibility Arum will choose Khan for Pacquiao’s next fight assuming he wins his next fight against Horn.

If Horn is lucky to pull off the upset over Pacquiao, a rematch could ensue and it could again take place in Australia before the end of the year. If this happens, Khan will have to wait till early next year for a lucrative fight against Pacquiao either in the UK or UAE.

But Arum has mentioned earlier that he is obligated to make arrangement for the Pacquiao-Crawford fight because it is commitment to the fans and if Crawford prevails over Felix Diaz on May 20, then a Pacquiao-Crawford fight can happen before the end of the year.

Still, Arum will have to weigh things over because Khan could offer a more lucrative fight if it is held in the UK or UAE. By choosing Khan, Arum will be sticking to his plan to hold Pacquiao’s succeeding fights outside the US.

“Well, I don’t like to project too far ahead,” Arum said. “[Pacquiao-Crawford] may be two fights ahead. I am not content with guys fighting once or twice a year. That is bullsh*t. I mean, guys have to fight regularly. Terence will fight in May. Manny is fighting in July. Terence would love, I think, if he gets through this fight well, to get back in the ring sometime this summer. And then we’ll look to the fall,” Arum said.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao continues to give more time to his work in the senate before sweating it out to the nearby Elorde Gym in preparation for his next fight. The neophyte Philippine senator has presided over the Senate Committee on Public Works investigation on road mishaps Tuesday before he resumes training.

Seven-time trainer of the year Freddie Roach has yet to join Pacquiao in training camp with only about six weeks to go before the Horn title fight.
