Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: QB Nick Foles on trading block?

Nick Foles took over the starting job in Philadelphia two years ago and the former Arizona Wildcats star has blossomed, but he’s never fit into Chip Kelly’s type of offense and it now appears the Eagles could be looking to go into a different direction.

Several sources have reported that the team has UCLA youngster Brett Hundley on their radar and he could be selected in the first round. A deal to move Foles could guarantee the selection and Charlie Campbell has reported Houston could be the team with interest in the 26-year-old.

Foles has nearly 6,800 yards and 46 touchdowns in just 28 games in Philly, but more importantly for any team looking to add the former third round pick is he has just 17 interceptions in his career. With a strong arm and decent mobility, the Texans would get a signal caller that is young enough to build the franchise around and a player with enough experience that he’s a proven commodity.

There has also been talk of a possible trade to move up into the top spot, allowing the Eagles to select Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota. This would allow Kelly to reunite with his former player, but a trade of this magnitude could be costly, likely a couple first round picks and possibly an added second rounder.

A move with Houston would cost the team much less, maybe a first and third round pick, a much better proposal for a team that missed the NFL Playoffs this past season and have other needs to fill on both sides of the ball.

This time of year is important for those that where close in 2014, but it can also change the destiny of a franchise. Philly and Houston have the players to make a run at a Super Bowl and with the right moves over the next few months, they could set themselves up for a big run over the next five plus years.
