NFL Fantasy Football: Week six running back rankings

Yes, the NFL is a passing league and yes, having depth at quarterback and wide receiver is essential. However, much like the tight end position, having the right players can make a big difference and it’s no different in 2016.

Much like last season a rookie is making headlines at the position. Dallas Cowboys youngster Ezekiel Elliott is off to a historic start, on pace to break Eric Dickerson’s rookie record in rushing. This week he and his team face Green Bay, one of the best rushing defense in the league and while benching the star back seems improbable, don’t expect another huge performance, but he’s still ranked as a top-5 running back in week six.

Former Cowboys back DeMarco Murray is another player off to a great season and a must-start player this weekend. The Tennessee Titans face the win-less Cleveland Browns and with three games already with 17 or more points, look for another big game for owners who took a gamble with the veteran on draft day.

LeSean McCoy and his Buffalo Bills are on a roll with big wins over New England and Los Angeles the last two weeks. This week’s game against San Francisco, at home, should be another strong outing for the veteran back and if he finds the end zone at least once, he could have the biggest point total at the position this weekend.

For fantasy football owners needing help this week, trades and the waiver wire are the only options — and while not strong in terms of big point totals, short-term solutions are available.

James White of New England is a pass-catching specialist and while not off to a great start, the return of Tom Brady will increase his value in the coming weeks. His 89 total yards in week five is a good indication of what to expect the rest of the NFL season, making him the best option not only this week, but for the rest of the regular season.
