Baylor sits on top of the conference power rankings heading into week 7 with a 5-0 record. The Bears had a week off and play Kansas next weekend, a contest where a big scoring win could gain this program some votes and help them climb in the national rankings.

It has been a disappointing season for the Big 12, but one team that’s been surprising is West Virginia. The Mountaineers are 4-0 on the year and should be raring to go after a bye this week as they prepare to play Texas Tech next Saturday. This team is one of the few playing solid defense, having allowed less than 20 points per game and they will need to continue that strong play against the pass-happy Red Raiders next weekend.
Oklahoma State and TCU are among five programs that already have two losses on the year, but still with hopes on a conference championship. The Cowboys needed a fourth quarter rally to defeat Iowa State and the Horned Frogs escaped Kansas by the skin of their teeth on Saturday.
While a National Championship is likely out of the question for any program in this conference, especially if they keep knocking each other over in unexpected fashion, fans have to love the excitement each week brings and the possibilities that are ahead for the Big 12.
