Tornadoes are rare in this section of the Pacific Northwest, known for more moderate weather during the winter. The last reported tornado for this area was in 1972.

No deaths or injuries are reported, but several businesses lost roofs. The Car Dealership I work at was evacuated by the Fire Department due to a gas leak caused by a ruptured gas line on the roof as roofing material was being blown off the building.

Several trees are uprooted and fences twisted and thrown about. One major intersection lost its traffic signal, creating confusion with drivers as County Sheriffs Deputies placed Stop signs in all directions.

Meteorologists list the storm as most likely an F-0 or Gale Force tornado, the lowest level possible on the scale, with wind speeds of 40 to 72 miles an hour, which could account for the lack of injuries.

Severe weather storm warnings are in effect until about 3 PM today.
