Kim Cattrall to Host 2011 P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards

Canada NewsWire

Canadian film, TV and stage icon to bring high style to third-annual awards ceremony in Toronto

TORONTO, Oct. 18, 2011 /CNW/ - P&G Beauty & Grooming is set to celebrate Canada's beauty and fashion industry as Kim Cattrall hosts the third-annual P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards on Tuesday, November 1, 2011.  Following a celebrated performance in her recent production of Noël Coward's Private Lives, the multi-talented Canadian actress will return to the Toronto stage to honour some of Canada's beauty, grooming and fashion editorial content as well as top make-up artists, hair stylists, photographers and models.

Now in its third year, the P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards were launched in Canada in 2009 to acknowledge excellence and promote talent in the Canadian beauty, grooming and fashion industry.  Specifically, the awards recognize the exceptional editorial work that brings beauty, grooming and fashion news to Canadian readers as well as top make-up artists, hair stylists, photographers and models.

A record 230 submissions were received this year, representing a formidable cross section of Canada's leading magazines, newspapers, websites and blogs following a nationwide call for entries in July.  The 2011 Awards feature 14 categories including two new additions - Best Scientific Beauty Feature and Best Creative Beauty Feature - which replace the former Best Beauty Feature category:

  1. Best Magazine Cover
  2. Best Beauty Editor of a Magazine
  3. NEW - Best Scientific Beauty Feature of a Magazine or Newspaper
  4. NEW - Best Creative Beauty Feature of a Magazine or Newspaper
  5. Best Fashion Editor of a Magazine
  6. Best Fashion Feature of a Magazine or Newspaper
  7. Best Fashion or Beauty Blog
  8. Best Male Grooming Feature
  9. Best Male Fashion Feature
  10. Best Fashion or Beauty Website
  11. Best New Face
  12. Photographer of the Year
  13. Hair Stylist of the Year
  14. Make-up Artist of the Year

"We're honoured to have Kim Cattrall as our host of the third annual P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards, recognizing the 2011 winners," says Esther Benzie, Canadian Marketing Director, P&G Beauty & Grooming.  "Canada has an amazing pool of talent in the beauty and fashion industry; this year we received a record number of entries and the submissions were truly exceptional.  What better way to celebrate them than with a stylish Canadian star like Ms. Cattrall at the helm of the awards ceremony."

An independent panel of influential Canadians - including beauty and fashion industry insiders along with art and design experts - reviewed and evaluated all entries, determining the three finalists and winner for each category.

To maintain objectivity, P&G Beauty & Grooming was not involved in the deliberation and enlisted a professional moderator to facilitate the proceedings.  The 2011 panel includes:

  • Glen Baxter, Host of CTV's In Fashion
  • Jeanne Beker, Journalist and Host of CTV's Fashion Television
  • Marie-Annick Boisvert; Social Media Strategist
  • David Dixon, Fashion Designer
