Taiwan police use water cannon on protesters to retake govt HQ

Taiwan riot police used water cannon early Monday during an operation to disperse hundreds of demonstrators protesting against a controversial China trade pact who had stormed government headquarters.

A total of 1,000 police officers were deployed to remove the protesters from the cabinet headquarters, the Taipei police department said, adding that 32 people were arrested.
