Greece's coastguard on Friday said the death toll from the sinking of a migrant boat had risen to nine, amid fears that hundreds more could be missing.
"Until this point 340 (people) have been rescued and nine bodies have been recovered," the coastguard said in a statement, without giving details on the migrants' nationalities.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said earlier the vessel "is believed to have left Africa with at least 700 migrants on board".
