Last week a woman was visiting Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Sandy Springs, Georgia, when she noticed a goose with a dart in its head.
Meg Harrison said she realized that someone took a dart and stabbed the animal right through its head. She said she had to do a double-take when she spotted the animal, which she says approached her and it seemed "off."
Harrison then alerted the authorities, and the goose was taken to the AWARE Wildlife Center, which created a plan for rehabbing it.
The good, who has been called Gilbert, seems to be doing just fine now, according to Huffington Post. As of now, authorities are still looking for those responsible.
This is not the first time something like this happened. Last year, a goose was spotted in northern Cobb County with an arrow right through its head. The bird was spotted by a number of people in a wooded area, and officials said that the goose, which was a Canadian goose, a protected species under state and federal law. Officials continued to say that it is illegal to hunt, kill, sell, possess or purchase Canada geese.
Back in 2010, a goose in New York was found with an arrow through its neck. Officials in that case said that a person using a bow in the park was a very serious matter.
