Tips: Which browsers are the most secure?

After some pretty ruthless business moves by Microsoft knocked Netscape out of the picture, it looked like everyone would be riding the information superhighway in a vehicle made by Microsoft, which meant that Microsoft would own the Internet.

Fast-forward a couple of decades and you can see just how well determination and ingenuity work when companies decide to take on monoliths like Microsoft. Today, there are literally dozens of Internet browsers for people to choose from, but there are also new security concerns that did not exist back in the days of the noisy modem connection. People need to be careful with the browsers they choose because security is a concern and privacy is also something people worry about.

When trying to judge the most secure browser, PC Magazine warns us that sometimes quantity is important. To many people, the Opera browser is much more secure than Internet Explorer because Opera tends to experience less security issues than Microsoft does. But, according to Tech Cocktail, Opera only has a market share of 4.4 percent, while Microsoft is used by nearly 31 percent of all Internet users. When you own big market share, you get attacked a lot more often. That is why it is important to judge all of your options before deciding which browser is the most secure.

Aviator

According to ComputerWorld, the Aviator Internet browser by White Hat offers many features worth considering. One of the biggest advantages Aviator has over browsers such as Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and Google’s Chrome is that White Hat has no huge advertising partners that want to grab your browsing data. When it comes to a secure browser, a developer without an advertising agenda is always a big plus.

Another beneficial feature of Aviator is that security is built directly into the browser without the need for countless add-ons or extensions. This is a browser that was built for security and can offer users an option over Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer.

Dooble

Before we discuss Dooble, we need to understand that we are talking about secure browsers here and not the most robust browsers on the market. Dooble is a slightly unrefined browser that, in its factory-settings default state, does not allow Javascript. Once again, this takes away from the full functionality of the browser, but it does not take away from the browser’s ability to protect your information.

According to TechWorld, Dooble allows users to password protect everything from individual browsing tabs to bookmarked sites. There is a great deal of security built into Dooble that, despite its basic tendency to make robust browsing difficult, still makes it one of the most secure browsers available.

Comodo Ice Dragon

The Ice Dragon is a sort of reworked browser that has many standard features that most users have seen before. But it is the security features that make this browser interesting to users who want to feel safe while working on the web.

The Ice Dragon has an algorithm that filters out dangerous websites before you connect to them and you can add to that list by putting in undesirable URLs of your own. If you feel like getting completely invested in the Ice Dragon browser, then you can download Comodo Internet Security and initiate “virtualized mode.” This isolates your browser from the ISP server and allows for premium security.

There are plenty of Internet browsers with excellent security features that should appeal to even the most finicky of users. Whether or not a browser is truly secure is often in the eyes of the beholder. But there are plenty of developers out there who are taking the time to create browsers that develop a truly secure experience and each of those browsers offers something that users should look into.
