River Parishes Community College Offers New Online Bookstore

Akademos chosen to power the College’s new online bookstore and course materials platform

(PRUnderground) July 28th, 2020

River Parishes Community College (RPCC) has selected Akademos to run their fullservice online bookstore. RPCC, a member of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, is among a growing group of higher education institutions using an online retail model to streamline the complex process of managing course materials. The new RPCC online store will launch this summer to support the fall semester.

By leveraging Akademos’ best-in-class course materials platform, the River Parishes online store will allow students to order a wide selection of course materials, including new and used books, rentals, eBooks, and interactive digital courseware. The shopping experience will be fully personalized for each student and offer free shipping and guaranteed buyback options.

“We are looking forward to our collaboration with Akademos,” said Shalini Sealey, River Parishes Community College Spokesperson. “The bookstore gives students a convenient way to find affordable course materials all in one place as well as a premium customer service experience. It also provides RPCC faculty and administrators a great toolkit for managing the course materials adoption process.”

RPCC faculty members will have access to a customized adoptions portal, enabling them to research, compare, and adopt course materials simply and efficiently. Also included is an easy-touse course pack creator tool that will further support the use of low-cost materials.

The Akademos platform features administrator dashboards displaying real-time data on the adoptions process, bookstore utilization, and sales. These dashboards promote on-time adoptions with advanced communication and reporting tools, ultimately boosting preparedness for day one of classes.

“We are pleased about working with RPCC to continue to build a thriving online bookstore,” said Akademos CEO Raj Kaji. “Our platform helps students find affordable textbooks quickly and easily. We have also developed tools that make life easier for faculty members and administrators, giving them more bandwidth to focus on their core mission of fostering educational excellence.”
