Review: Rachel Platten stunning on new pop album ‘Waves’ (Includes first-hand account)

Platten’s new CD opens with the mid-tempo and sassy “Perfect For You,” and it is followed by the addicting “Whole Heart,” which is worthy of the repeat button, and the same holds true for “Collide.”

Her latest radio single, “Broken Glass” is a true anthem of female empowerment, and it deserves to become her next major hit. In New York, it is played consistently on the radio airwaves.

Other noteworthy tracks on the collection include “Loveback,” the piano-driven “Hands” and the unapologetic “Labels.” After the spitfire “Fooling You,” the 13-track album closes with the nonchalant “Good Life” and “Grace,” where Platten’s crystalline vocals are pure like the driven snow.

The Verdict

Overall, Rachel Platten delivers on her new studio album Waves. There is a lot of variety on this musical project, and Platten’s voice is simply beautiful. It is recommended for all fans of the songstress, especially those who have an affinity for pop music. This CD garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Waves is available on iTunes.
