Regarding their commercial with Wendy’s, lead singer Zac Barnett said, “We were looking for new ways to start releasing more music, and we had this song ‘Right Here Right Now,’ which Wendy’s loved, and thought it would go great with their new campaign, and it seemed like the perfect fit for us to get this song out there, and for Wendy’s to have the exclusive release.”
Barnett added, “We all grew up eating Wendy’s and getting food from their dollar menu when we had no money, and we were struggling to make our dreams come true. It’s a brand that we trust, and the commercial looked awesome, and it just seemed like the right fit for this song.”
The band would perform a stripped-down acoustic show at their record label, Island Records, for an intimate group of fans. “It’s going to be a really cool and intimate environment with a few fans there. We are going to play some new songs and some old songs acoustic and answer some questions, and we are going to make it into a positive environment,” he said.
For this upcoming album, the group was trying to take their songwriting to the next level, as far as writing, lyrics, the production and the sound that they were using. “We just wanted to be the best songwriters we could be, and writing songs with a lot of meaning to us,” Barnett said. “We are different people than we were three years ago. We tried to hone in on our lyrics and our songwriting.”
“We have a lot of cool new tracks that we are super proud of, and we know that the fans are going to love these songs. We have a lot of favorite songs on this album,” he added.
Each day, the band is motivated by “everything in the world.” “We are inspired by other musicians, songs we grew up listening to, and everyday life and the struggles and everything that we have to look forward to. This band was not an overnight success, but we’ve had ups and downs with our families and friends, loved ones and our relationships. All of these things tie in to create the music and songs that we write,” he explained.
