Borgeous talks ‘Electric Zoo: Transformed’ show in New York (Includes interview)

On September 5, Borgeous will be performing for “Electric Zoo: Transformed” in New York. “I am excited,” he said. “It is going to be a crazy week. I will playing some new music, and the fans can get ready for a very exciting and energetic set.”

A Los Angeles and Las Vegas-based DJ and producer, Borgeous is drawn to electronic music due to its “very open format,” and “open platform.” On the future of electronic music, within the next five years, he said, “It is evolving and getting bigger. I don’t think it is going to shift.”

A month ago, Borgeous performed in Mykonos, Greece, which was a fun experience. “We stayed in a villa up in the hills. It was amazing, and I had a blast,” he said.

His latest single “Lovestruck,” where he collaborates with Mike Hawkins for Spinnin’ Records, was released on August 7.

Throughout his career, Borgeous, who is also known as John Borger, has already had three Billboard Dance Radio Top 10s, three Beatport No. 1 singles and a No. 1 on the iTunes Dance charts in 15 different countries.

His greatest track to date, “Tsunami,” was a commercial success in bars, clubs, festivals and radio stations worldwide, thus propelling him to international acclaim. It reached No. 1 on iTunes in 15 different countries, as well as No. 1 on Beatport and it earned him an EMPO Award for “Track of the Year” and it was nominated for the Juno award for “Best Dance Recording of the Year.”

Borgeous’ collaboration with Canadian songstress Lights, “Zero Gravity,” catapulted to No. 5 on iTunes Dance Charts in Canada. “That was cool. I worked really hard on that song. Lights is an amazing artist, she is super down-to-earth and easy to work with, and we finished that song pretty quickly,” he said.

Last year, Borgeous ranked No. 87 on the coveted DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs poll. “I am definitely excited. I was at No. 87 last year, and for the first year that everything was happening to me, that was an awesome accomplishment. I hope that I keep going up,” he said.

Each day, Borgeous is motivated by his desire to outdo himself. “I want to grow bigger and bigger each time. I like creating music and being involved in every aspect of my career,” he said. “It definitely keeps me going and the fans interested.”

For hopefuls who wish to become DJs and dance producers, he said, “Stay focused and make sure the material that you are putting out is good, and keep at it every day.”

Boregous defined the word success as “Being happy and being content with what you are doing, and enjoying life as much as you can.”

He has a residency at Marquee Nightclub and Dayclub at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and he is out on the road performing shows worldwide. To learn more about Borgeous’ tour dates, check out his official website.
