article imageReview: 'World Break' EP 3 shows the true pain of Shizuno's life

By Can Tran     Jan 26, 2015 in Entertainment
Shizuno reveals herself as one of the most emotionally vulnerable people in "World Break" as the third episode has just shown.
Episode three of World Break: Aria of a Curse for a Holy Swordsman, titled “Witch of the Netherworld,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and FUNimation for paid members. Free members can watch this same episode six days from now.
Ranjo and Shizuno quickly establish that Moroha will easily attain the rank of “S” because he defeated the Metaphysical, but he has the ability of both light and darkness energy.
The beginning scene was funny because of this mysterious blond-haired man tried to act like a Westerner that couldn't speak Japanese. It was funny when Ranjo managed to reveal otherwise, with her annoyed reaction adding to the humor.

The guy still had to be an elitist d-bag when he ordered a special tea.

This guy apparently takes his tea very seriously, which makes me laugh and shake my head. It was funnier when Shizuno revealed the man to be Sir Edward Lampard, one of the six greats and the head of the Great Britain Headquarters.

With all humor aside, the episode takes a serious note as Moroha learns more about Shizuno's family and its history with dark magic. It follows the usual character plot of one major character being used as a mere tool for someone else to benefit and ascend the ranks.
Shizuno's older brother, the school's present, is one of those lowly scumbags who wants his sister to “work hard” so that he can ascend higher.
I became more interested in the character plot when Shizuno implied that she and Moroha were lovers in one of his past lives. This is the dark polar opposite of the past life that he shared with Ranjo. It is apparent that Moroha had killed many people in his past life with Shizuno.

This is an interesting episode because it pointed out a possible conspiracy by Shizuno's brother in order to ascend to a higher rank for more power, fame, and money.
