Episode 11 of Gourmet Girl Graffiti, titled “Chop-Chop, Slurp/Crunchy, Shining,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll for paid subscribers. Free subscribers can watch the same episode six days from now on March 28th.
The first theme of this episode is ramen, which I thought funny because Machiko’s parents sent her a box of the stuff even though they are working overseas. You can’t really go wrong with ramen when you need something that is fast to make and delicious to eat.
I laughed when Machiko said that they had to wait until later in the night to have ramen because it’s best as a late night snack only to see her being distracted. This is hypocritical, in a funny way, on Machiko’s part.
This also makes Kirin curious on what Machiko’s parents do for a living, which leads her to believe that they’re either politicians or government workers. I love Kirin’s melodrama when she over-exaggerates things to the point that things are blown out of proportion.
It obviously shows that Machiko misses her parents when she half-sleepily hallucinates Kirin as her mother.
I was surprised that Kirin improved her cooking when Machiko has one of her foodgasms.
But I am glad that Kirin is growing in her culinary skills. This gives the understanding of the first part of the episode’s title.
They are still in exam season, which leads to the next dish.
It was a series of funny and shocking moments at the local Shinto shrine, where Shiina revealed that she passed the recommendation exam and was accepted into the high school that the others are applying for. I laughed when Machiko and Kirin started touching her repeatedly to get her “good luck.”
The second part of the episode title comes to be when Shiina shares her lunch, katsu sandwiches, which were prepared by Tsukuyo.
It was a pretty delicious episode to watch. I am not really a fan of ramen, but I thought the katsu sandwiches looked delicious.
