The child, 8, was waiting for his mother to return to the car when two men noticed the engine running and got inside of it. The two thieves noticed the kid in the backseat and they told him his mother asked them to drive him to school, so they needed the address.
When the mother, a postal service employee, returned she found her son was gone. Police say the woman ran into her workplace to handle a few things and she left the vehicle running.
This was something the mother did regularly and this was the first time she has encountered a problem, according to police.
Eventually the child was found at school. The mother left an iPhone inside the car and it was used to find the car, which was left abandoned a few miles from the school.
Officers were searching for the boy and when they found him, he was sitting in class acting as nothing had happened. However, when the child realized what had happened to him, he was left shaken.
As of now, police have made no arrests and they are still looking for the suspects and no charges have been filed for the crime.
