Noise in woman’s ear was caused by a spider weaving a web

The woman, Li Meng, didn’t call doctors right away because at first she thought the scratching noises she heard at night may have been evil spirits.

Eventually, Meng’s pain got to the point where medicine didn’t help her any more, so she consulted doctors at the Xiamen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

When doctors took a look at her left ear, they found a spider. The spider was actually weaving a web inside her ear. Doctors then got to work on removing the spider.

The task wasn’t exactly easy, as when doctors attempted to remove it, it reacted violently. This ended up causing more pain for Meng.

Meng was given an ear drop in order to subdue the spider, so the doctor could take it out with a pair of tweezers.

It is believed the spider got inside Meng’s ear while she was on a hiking trip. During the trip, she climbed a tree to pick some fresh fruit.

Meng is doing just fine and she is recovering.

This isn’t the first incident involving a critter living inside a person’s ear. A few weeks ago, a man from China found out he had 26 cockroaches living inside his ear canal. All of the roaches were removed, and the man made it to the hospital just in time. If he had waited any longer, his ear would have been left destroyed.
