The restaurant, named Curry Shop Shimizu, is the first restaurant to specialize in curry that tastes like poop. The curry isn’t actually made with human feces, but it is made from tart and natural ingredients such as bitter gourd and senburi tea. The curry, named the Unko (poop in English) Curry, is served in a dish that is shaped like a Japanese toilet-bowl.
The creator of the poop curry is Ken Shimizu, who has actually ate feces in some of the films he appeared in.
In order to give the curry the texture of poop, the texture is achieved by using water and cocoa powder and blending the two. Apparently it tastes bad, but it is actually healthy.
The restaurant conducted a marketing survey before the poop curry was created. The survey found that out of the 400 young adults surveyed, only 5.7 percent said they were excited to go, while 75 percent thought otherwise, saying that they were adamant about never stepping foot in the restaurant. Regardless of the overwhelming negative feedback, the restaurant decided to put the curry on the menu.
