Over the past 24 hours, Trump has taken to Twitter to rant about Democrats and racial injustice protesters nearly a dozen times, mentioning law and order, and made false claims about mail voting.
Not once has Trump or the White House press secretary mentioned the 100 major fires burn in 11 western states. Trump signed a disaster declaration for California in August but he has yet to sign one for Oregon, whose governor said she sent in the request on Wednesday night. And he’s so far remained largely silent on the spreading fires, according to CNN.
In Oregon, over 500,000 people have been displaced due to the fires, and that number is 12 percent of the state’s population. So far, seven people have died from the wildfires. “This could be the greatest loss of human lives and property due to wildfire in our state’s history,” Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, a Democrat, said Wednesday.
And, by the way, those 100 days of protests in Portland resulted in one death, and Trump is still lambasting the city of Portland and the governor of the state for the protests over police brutality, even though he has not decried the truckloads of his supporters that have been responsible for much of the disorder of late.
It has been left to Trump’s lackey, Vice-president Mike Pence, to express concern amid the blazes during a Thursday morning interview on Fox News. “Look, my daughter and son-in-law live in California,” he said. “Our hearts go out to all of those enduring or threatened by these fires and I want to assure everyone that we’re going to make sure that those courageous firefighters, that homeowners and businesses have the full support of the federal government.”

Pence said full support? The White House finally put out a statement, saying “the federal government continues to support our western neighbors who are battling raging wildfires in a locally executed, state-managed and federally supported emergency response.”
On Thursday, White House spokesman Judd Deere said, “President Trump is closely monitoring and continues to urge individual emergency preparedness and citizens in impacted areas to listen to the warnings of state and local officials.”
Well, that statement is nothing more than political double-speak. Any damned fool could have come up with that, but the fact that the leader of this country doesn’t seem to have the time to say something, anything, for crying out loud, to those people who are going through the conflagrations – losing everything they owned, and even family members – is more than just despicable – It is hateful and heartless.
As the Washington Post says, “the president’s relative silence on the West’s wildfire crisis matches up with his relative silence on three other issues: the struggles of Democratic-led states, climate change, and crises that require empathy.”
Bottom line? Trump does not give a S— about anything except winning the election, and we know he will do or say anything to make that happen.
